Indeed, it's all about GPU folding now and the 8800/9800GT's are still the best 'bang per buck' (if you disregard power consumption)... :wink:

It's worth noting in that article that they mention the problem with mismatched shader units on different cards, this has apparently finally been fixed with Cuda 2.3 and the 190.38 drivers, so you can now run two odd cards if you choose (i.e. a 8800GT with a 8600GTS or something).
Also the CPU power isn't really a problem with a single or even a couple of GPU's, as I run an 8800GT on a measly VIA C7 1.5Ghz without any slowdown, and the CPU usage is still around 10%. Obviously I'm sure it wouldn't be able to feed 4x GTX295's though... :lol:

the Bit-Tech article also missed the point that their world-beating folding rig is also capable at defeating cancer with the World Community Gird project. The WCG project too supports nVidia's CUDA technology. :wink:
