Picked up a 7970 and clocked it as far as overdrive would let me. We'll see how it performs.

It's not there. I know it should be, but it's not.
What I think happened, although I don't remember precisely, is that I created a symbolic link for that directory pointing to my HDD that recently died. Odd thing is, now that I've reinitialized the folding client, I have no idea where the work unit data is now. It's here SOMEWHERE, as I'm folding as normal.....just don't know where. I leave indexing turned off, so I can't do a search. Bizarre.

anyone fold with an nVidia Quadro NVS 290? I figured I'd get back into folding and I have a system at work I put it on. First time I've seen the 'new look' client. SMP looks fine but I get that dreaded 'unstable machine' error is the logs. I've loaded the latest driver.
Also, I loaded it onto an older HP Proliant server with quad core Xeon. Will that produce some decent points? I didn't run cpu-z to see exactly which proc it is. I imagine a dual core Xeon with hyperthreading.
Might throw another little old box in there with a Geforce 8400. yeah I know that stinks, but every little bit.
Is this new client pretty reliable? I don't want to have to put a lot of effort into managing these things.

It's G86 based, so it should be ok, only expect ~3k PPD tops from it though I guess.

Yup, probably about 7k+ PPD running A4 SMP WU's

New V7 client is great, it's easy to use, all the GPU/SMP config is right there, and it's very stable and reliable, go for it, would be great to have you back on board

I've got an IBM server just sitting around that has dual hexacore Xeons with hyperthreading. I need to rack it and see what I can do. If it's feasible I'll put F@H on there and get it going.
Also have another old HP server just sitting in the rack, and I haven't even powered it on. I'll throw it on there also if I can.
I'm sure I'll be back here with more questions.
For one thing I just remoted into work and found that server is less than 1% done after about 4 hours. Seems lame, unless the work unit is a monster.

Ok, so it seems I have to do the advanced install and set it to run as a service. Otherwise the default install, when running, dies sometime after I end my RDP session. Have tried and tried to get the NVS290 working in the other system but it constantly fails. I have a 3.0 Ghz Core2 Duo I am going to stick into it, and a Geforce 8400 to replace the NVS 290.
..also found out the Xeons in the HP Proliant server are pretty ancient. Nocona class single core with hyperthreading. It has 2 procs in it for a total of 4 threads, but I don't know how much folding they'll do. My first WU got me 13 lousy points.

Ah that sucks, shame you couldn't get it to work on your setup.

Yeah for old P4 based Xeon's, it's probably not worth running as they may not even fold the WU's in time. Apologies, when I think of a quad core Xeon, I imagine it would be C2D based!
