display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding...

Postby UDF2Diablo » Thu Apr 05, 2007 7:49 pm

lately i've been getting this message:

"display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered."

nomatter what game i'm playing, sometimes even when i'm not playing a game!

my pc screen will freeze for 2 seconds, then come back, and windows will display that message...

in games especially though, take wow for example, screen freezes, then recovers, then screen freezes, then recovers, then screen freezes, then recovers... over and over and over and F*^%$^ OVER AGAIN !!!

as you can tell i'm rather annoiyed at this point, having spent 3 days attempting to troubleshoot and solve this problem with no end in sight, i don't have a damn clue why it's doing it, and i have no idea why to fix it, and searches on the net are bringing up nothing apart from other people saying they're getting the same problem... but still no fix!?

please for the love of god, someone here tell me what's going on and how to fix it!

yeah i'm running Vista Ultimate x64 with Drivers 101.41

unfortunately i've already tried those 100.65 drivers and that 'fix' but it didn't make a difference at all ;/

It seems like NVs Vista drivers don't play well with UAC on. Try turning it off.

UAC is also turned off ;D that was one of the first things i did when i installed Vista...

Hmmz... any other ideas?

I think i've managed (finally) to get my ram running at the recommended specs of 1066mhz, 5,5,5,15,2T.

Buuuuut i'm still getting these errors, *sighs*

that didn't work either unfortunately...

i spent a whole 7 hours today trying to fix the problem, and nothing i found and/or tried worked :( ... infact things only seemed to get worse and worse ?

well, i've ended up doing a complete format and re-install, so far issue solved! (as to be expected)

let's hope it stays solved.

yeah very fun...

i formatted (for the second time).

did not install C&C 3 - as this was the last game i installed before it started happening.

installed the official 100.65 drivers - as these used to work, and are official so it rules out a beta driver problem.

and took my creative X-Fi out - to eliminate any possible fault from my sound card.

pc lasted about a week, then the errors came back!!

*sighs* i really dunno why this only started happening now, and i wish i could figure out the reason for why it's doing it!!
