Quote from the article:
Quote:
Thanks to the new, shared architecture in the APIs, it will be possible to install new drivers without rebooting; perform 'video card-only' reboots and isolate the display driver from the rest of the system. With Vista, it will be almost impossible for the display driver to bring the rest of the system down with it -- something that is a serious problem and common occurence in current versions of Windows.

Linux already does this, and last I recall so did BEOS. I think Windows is the only OS that can't yet.

But MS is good at stealing technology without actually stealing it, so prolly will be in Vista heheh.

MS is good at incorporating tech that's been there and improving on it. It's what they've always been good at. If they can't improve on it they don't bother getting it. Formerly, though, they'd only been improving on old code, so had some basic stumbling blocks.

I don't expect Vista to be perfect, but I do expect it to be a lot better.
