DIMES thread v. 2

Finally got it all back online - not that you can tell with the stats being screwed up lately. Also, I can't seem to register new devices - my wife got a new PC for testing Vista, and I was going to add another VM to my dedicruncher.

I can't get registered on either machine, though I was able to re-install and re-register the 3 existing devices, both host and virtual, on my dedicruncher.


Edit: Figured out a workaround for the problem with new agent registrations.

I had a couple of bogus agents in my list from when I forgot to name new agents while installing DIMES, before I un- and re-installed to allow proper choice of agent names. In any case, the bogus names have just been sitting there, so I figured, why not make use of them? Sure enough, using one of them allowed me to register my wife's new Vista PC; tomorrow I should be able to add the 3rd VM to my dedicruncher using the last bogus agent.

I'll just have to re-do it later when the registration problem is solved, so I'll have more accurately descriptive names for the 2 agents.

Finally got all the registration issues dealt with.

But this latest stats failure is irritating. At least my agents are starting to show up as reporting again - For the past 2 days, more than half of them were not showing up in the stats reporting at all! I was beginning to think ragnar would catch me by Halloween!!

I wish I could get all my units that are running to actually show up in stats, seems like I'm always chasing problems of one sort or another. Well, regardless, ragnar will catch me this year. I put up the good fight, but you can only outrun the Borg for so long!!

Yeah, I'm going to be going down even faster. I've got to back off and shut down my PCs at home during the day. Gotta reduce the power bill from $240 a month. With 5 PCs here going at it full-time 24-7 for years, it's added up. They'll be crunching from @ 5pm to @ 8am, though. What the heck, I put in 24-7 time on one type of crunching or another since late 2003, so it's about time to back off a little. Let someone else with a more friendly power bill do it.

I just realized that I forgot to reinstall dimes when I reformatted.
If I have two user accounts set up on this computer and I install dimes on each one, will I have two instances running at once?
