DFI nf4 ultra-d --boot troubles

system specs:
mobo: DFI nforce 4 UT ultra-d
cpu: Opteron 165 dual core 1.8 gig
ram: 2 sticks of 1gig g.skill DDR400

it will boot up for roughly 3-4 seconds then shuts off. ive tried the ram in different slots with both single sticks and both sticks. Also ive tried resetting the cmos, but still the same problem. Any help is greatly appreciated!

What model is your power supply? DFI boards often have trouble with low wattage and/o "cheap" PSUs.

ive tried two psu's so far: an antec and a dynex. the antec truepower 2 550w and the dynex is 550w as well. At first i also thought there was a psu problem but i think thats not the case.

How bout heat? Is your HSF seated properly?

I had the same thing. I found that my video card was being pulled at slightly by the video cable even though it was tightly locked in place. You could check that its in place and that there is no pressure on it from anywhere.
