i have very simmilar problem with my msi k8 neo4 platinum with this audio specification:

• 7.1 channel audio codec RealTek ALC850.
- Compliance with AC97 v2.3 Spec.
- Meet PC2001 audio performance requirement.

i can't install nforce audio driver (any version) only driver from realtek.

where is the problem - because all audio drivers since 4.xx support RealTek ALC850....

plese tell me what is wrong - i can't figure it out
thnx for everithing

your not supposed to be able to install nvidia drivers, your board is not soundstorm its realtek.

It doesn't have to be soundstorm certified. Any NF2 mobo will MCP standalone (not mcp-t) and ACL650-655-658 (AN7 was 658) can use the nVIDA version of the drivers just fine. nVIDA just needs to update the driver mix to include ALC850 correctly. Meaing there are NF3 mobos that have only ALC650-655 that can usee this driver (the nVIAD version) just fine. I have installed them on boards in the shop (ECS NF3, Biostar NF3) and they work just fine. It's just 'some' of the boards with ALC 850 that don't work correctly with the driver (audio) portion.

Confirmed. The nforce APU drivers work fine on my MCP w/out soundstorm. The mobo has the Realtek ALC650 soundchip (revision A1). I'm using version 4.60 from the nforce4 standalone kit, so far no problems here *keeping fingers crossed*
