Hi there, I'm trying to get a Dell Inspiron 8500 w/ a Belkin N1 Wireless Notebook Card online for a friend, but am having some problems and dont know how to narrow down the problem.
Both the Belkin System Utility and Windows Zero report detecting a network, but Internet Explorer (both 6 & 7) displays a Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage message.
I am running Windows XP Pro/SP2. |

Oh, and I also noticed that when running Windows network Setup Wizrd that it lists the Belkin Card as disconnected for some reason.

Network Setup Wizard
The wizard found disconnected network hardware.
The network connections listed below are disconnected. Plug ion your network cables or otherwise connect your network hardware, and then click Next.
Connections:
- Local Area Conncetion..............Broadcom440x/100 Integrated Controller
- Wireless Network Connection....Belkin N1 Wireless Notebook Card |
I'm assuming that this simply means that the hardware is not connected to the Internet rather than that the hardware is not connected? |

| Yep, sure does. No "!'s" or "?'s" showing either. |

Hi!
Has the system got online with wifi before?
What are the various settings in the router such as security enabled, ip, dhcp, dns, wireless speed/protocol, etc? |

I dont think so, no. No idea about the router configuration, I dont have WiFi at home myself so I tried some Hotspots (a cafe around the corner has Public WiFi access and a few other places) and I also tried it at work. |

Problem solved!
Turns out while Firefox connects, IE wont (altho I reinstalled IE, upgraded from IE6 to IE7 and reset everything to default).
More like a workaround but I guess as long as he can get online now, it wont matter which browser he uses.
Thanx for the input guys!!
