Big problem with Abit NF7

if your talking about read here, dont forget people only post if they have a problem, its rare to see people posting they got this board and it works.

Good point...But if you read this forum... and the Abit forum you will see that this board seams to have more issues then it should. It's funny that on Abit's forum the VIA forum..which was started before the Nforce forum has now been outpaced in posts by 30% or so on the Nforce forum..which would leave one to think that the nforce2 chipset..is problematic at best.

Thanks for all your help and tips so far. Unfortunelately, I have not been able to even test your tips, because my PC/motherboard has got a new disease: The beeping-disease. Every time I boot my PC with RAM installed, it starts beeping, and it continues to beep regularly every third secord, or so. However, I took my RAM module to a friends PC, and it functioned on his motherboard. Even though I am sure that I press it down to its socket PROPERLY, it does not stop beeping, and I am unable to see my boot-screen. And so, I am not able to even try fixing my other problems (which is the PC not getting past the boot-screen with info on different components...). So, as I said, I think my motherboard is the cause of all my problems. I am getting sick of it, I have not been able to use for my own PC for 3 weeks or so. Have anyone had familiar problems? By the way, when I take out my RAM, and boot with only my graphics-card and cpu/cpufan, the beeping does not take place, so it HAS to be the RAM. What can I do?

Just an outside chance a problem I had recently might help you. After installing a program, my machine halted in the same place. It degenerated and eventually I also thought my bios was somehow corrupted, but then I did did the following, (computer engineers intuition)
Remove all IDE and floppy cables.
Move the bios link to reset the bios
This allowed me into the bios, IE del key now worked OK
I setup the bios with defaults, then forced update the ECDS, (might have that name wrong)
I then rebooted, and of course it did not as no disks etc was connected, but it definately sorted it out.
I then reconnected my drives, and bingo, all was well again.
I am puzzled as to what caused all this, but it was something the new program tried to do, (I think set up ASPI). But after thinking I was really up the creek, its now working fine again, without the program installed, it can stay out.

Well, I have decided to "solve" the problem by returning this motherboard, I am going for a MSI KT333 mainboard instead. So, I just want to thank everyone who was helped me, I really appriciate it.

Had the same problem...removed the IDE cable and was able to get into bios...I think it was the fact the the IDE bus master was disabled that led to the problem
