Did anyone know what "ASInsHelp" is ?

Sometimes i install any Software my System is frozen and i can only do a Reboot. ASInsHelp is the only Error Message at Services i found everytime the System gets frozen.

Same problem from another User is here :

http://castlecops.com/postt115217.html (i think his english is better ! Smile )

I have installed the latest nForce Drivers and latest BIOS Update from Asus.

The only difference is that i didnt have the "Deluxe" Board - my one is the normal edition.

this is some leftover from previous asus utility (ai booster or something like that) installation.

just delete the entry from registry.
asus software utility have poor quality. just never install them anyway.

ASInsHelp is the Ai Booster that Asus provides. Just install the Ai Booster software to the default location and it should be fine. It's a poorly written install that only works when installed where Asus says to.

It worked ! Surprised
The ASInsHelp service was successfully sent a start control. Shocked

Before it would never start...
What i did was install the ASUS Cool&Quit softwware (and driver from the CD that came with the motherboard) which i previously uninstalled because it sucked. It aparently took revenge and forced me to re-install. Oh well. As long as i don't get BSODs anymore.

All thanks go to wasat Razz

[QUOTE=Chipolito]When attempting to setup the AMD Cool and Quiet (CnQ) program at the end of set up I get a "failed to initial AsInsHelp DLL" error message. QUOTE]

I think i have a similar problem. The program itself seems to work just fine, but from time to time i get eror messages in eventviewer:

Service Control Manager | Event 7000

The ASInsHelp service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.

netevent.dll (5.1.2600.0)

My computer sometimes just stalls ( once a week). When i view the eventlog afterwards there's always that "ASInsHelp service failed to start " just before the computer stalled.

This 'service' is started with wondows (seen in eventviewer)
but i can't find a location to switch it off.

I uninstalled the asus software, didn't help ..
re-installed .. no good.

Possibly the missing file is: C:\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\AsInsHelp32.sys ; which indeed i do not have.

So, does anyone know how to stop ASInsHelp service from trying to start ??

Thx

there are a couple of different places you could look to stop a program from starting:

1)Start>Run>msconfig Then click the startup tab

From there you can see all of the programs that are noted to start on startup, look through that as you may see other things you dont want Rolling Eyes

2)Start>All Programs/Programs>Startup (view start menu directory)

In the startup popout of the start menu any shortcuts listed will also start on startup

Thanks zetro, but that's the first place i looked, also services in msconfig and services in 'manage computer' thingie. Razz

Can't be found there.. I think it's called from Asus software's modified version of netevent.dll (5.1.2600.0) trying to load C:\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\AsInsHelp32.sys.
(I gess netevent.dll isn't put back the way it was before the software install.)
It could be from some other modified file, 'cause netevent.dll doesn't seem to be changed here. Shocked Anyway , nice puzzle. BTW the stalling BSOD problem is now gone by re-installing the Asus Cool and Quiet driver & Software. Only installing the driver didn't help. Arrow

I had this same problem, and could only find this thread for reasons, so I started digging in device manager.

To turn off this service, which doesn' t seem to be uninstalled after removing AMD cool-n-quiet software or drivers, go to >device manager>view>show hidden Devices> >Look Under Non-Plug and Play Drivers. You'll see it right at the top. It will probably have the yellow exclamtion point on it since the file is apparently missing (And cannot be found when searching the Asus CD) Access it, and on the driver tab, change the startup type to disabled
no more event log errors, I never noticed any instability due to this but the constant errors are annoying.

There is no where else the service is listed as it is apprently the driver for cool & quiet, and also, do not disable anything else in N-PnP unless you really like instability.

A great tool to sneak out any program/start location is "Autoruns" from SysInternals
http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/autoruns.html. It's a very small program which shown you quickly any start location and let you desable them instantly, including drivers and services. It's also great to sneak out malware and virus too.
