Reason for the HD 6970/50 delay?

If you unmount the cooler of a reference card, you could notice an obvious abrasion over the corner of the inner 6/8-pin power connector socket. No, it ain't by chance you've got a bad pick. It's common among all the popular review sites.

Yes, it's because if you don't polish that corner, you wouldn't be able to mount and install that cooler! Thus AMD spent a delay to fix that - they polish every card by hand, therefore each card is guaranteed to be a hand-crafted unique version!

AMD launches (*cough* renames) 6770 and 6750 :-

http://www.amd.com/us/products/desktop/ ... rview.aspx
http://www.amd.com/us/products/desktop/ ... rview.aspx

Early this morning a number of our readers sent us links to two product pages on AMD’s own website which claim to show two upcoming cards: the HD 6770 and HD 6750. Not only does this signify a possible glimpse into the future of AMD’s mid-range lineup but it also allows us to make a number of educated predictions about these “new” products.

Before we go on, let us say right here and now that AMD has confirmed with us that these cards DO exist and they DO use the Juniper XT and Juniper Pro cores. HOWEVER, they will only be available to OEMs or large system manufacturers and WILL NOT be available in the retail channel. AMD is updating their product pages to reflect this.

Interesting bit on the new 11.1a drivers, and the new Tessellation (*cough*) optimizations.
