Okay, everything is now redone. because ASUS updated their servers, folder naming & literally everything. I simply rewrote the checked URLs. Should be fine again, if you find an broken link please let me know as soon as possible.

NOTE: New drivers we will be seeing will more likely next be unique OS based drivers and not really new. There is no new drivers out there according to couple main manufacturers and usage suggestions are on last message on this post as usual.

Windows Vista [x86/x64] Section of Drivers:

I simply had to come and correct some of ideas I had here for SoundMAX ADI. As basically the ADI devices are supported by Levono newer drivers,
but as today seems all changes and device tags are different on all manufacturer boards. So going to include working/functional setups & commons only.

ASUS Section:

6.10.02.6100 [08-01-2007] [Base driver. probably you find on any of their Mobo driver pages, includes ALL device tags from ASUS.][ADI 1984/86/88/B]

ASUS FTP - ASUS HTTP

6.10.02.6140 [02-03-2007] [Fixed version of v6.10.02.6130 which was broken all the way sound wouldn't even initiate, lol. Also Includes all Devices][ADI 1984/86/88/B]

ASUS FTP - ASUS HTTP

6.10.02.6260 [24-09-2007] [Vista designed Audio device driver, from Asus which includes all device tags from new cards. Has the new Vista base Managing system. and HardwareID's for even older cards] [ADI 1984/86/88/B] [Important: These are not fixed drives like v6.10.02.6480 are for handle counts overflow]

ASUS FTP - ASUS HTTP

6.10.02.6280 [29-08-2007] [Vista designed Audio device driver, from Asus which includes all device tags from new cards. Has the new Vista base Managing system.] [ADI 88/89/A/B *New cards*] [Important: These are not fixed drives like v6.10.02.6480 are for handle counts overflow]

ASUS FTP - ASUS HTTP

6.10.02.6400 [03-01-2008] [Newest there is and also first TRUE to Vista designed Audio device driver, from asus which includes all device tags. Introduces also New vista based Audio managing center.] [ADI 1984/86/88/B]

ASUS FTP - ASUS HTTP

6.10.02.6480 *ASUS version of Sonic Focus drivers* [06-05-2008] [These are the best ones and fixed as Sonic Focus drivers below are straight from ASUS website] [ADI 1984/86/88/A/B] [Recommended update]:

ASUS FTP - ASUS HTTP

Sonic Focus

This Driver is ment for SoundMAX ADI 1988 (Sadly also 1986 bugs this way) x86/x64 as an Fix because every single driver 'audiodg.exe' file uses
around 500000 up to 1,5 million handles because of the DSP profiling. So they released fix and it works dropping all handles to around 200...
Stressing system VERY much less... [Recommended update]

Here's Link to Pages
Straight to file: Link to file 'ASUS_BlackHawk_v30.zip'

Levono Section:

6.10.01.6200 [05-06-2007] [This driver supports all 1982/86/88/B series of SoundMAX ADI. This is here because it is few times faster than ASUS drivers. However you will not get the WHQL. Introduces also New vista based Audio managing center.]

Levono - v4aud09us17.exe Levono - v4aud09us17.txt

6.10.01.6380 [15-01-2008] [this is only for 1988B support and is the latest driver there is in SoundMAX ADI family exiting. Introduces also New vista based Audio managing center.]

Levono - v4aud15us17.exe Levono - v4aud15us17.txt

Audio Center Features on new drivers:

-Speaker Setups
-AudioESP [With automated speaker detection & re adjust on reboot]
-Special effect saving [Microphones, Mic Boosting, Skype & other phones]
-Audio Experience/Sonic Focus [Dynamical, solo, brightening, low Bass and own EQ]

Windows XP [x86/x64] Section of drivers:

High Definition BUS driver correction for systems needing them:

Windows XP / 2000 'x86' needs little help on High Definition Audio Bus driver before installing actual driver. So here's Microsoft & HP combination which needs to be installed before HD Audio drivers.

(New notice)
Looks like there is even better compination of drivers on HP website:
Here is link: Hotfix SP33566
you will still need this after: Microsoft Hotfix 888111

and since our lovely Hewlett-Packard wants to play games and delete if not success on their idiotic installer...

Here is Extracted sp33566 (Has all 36 languages to all XP systems (OEM, SP1, SP2) and so on...) :
MediaFire - Mirror - HP-sp33566-extracted RAR File
MediaFire - Mirror - HP-sp33566-extracted SFV Check File
(Files were scanned on latest Kaspersky AV)

Installation is simplistic:
first.. Open your Control Panel > Device Manager
second.. locate the Unknown Audio device or PCI Device > right click it > properties
third.. update driver.. > browse location / have a disc.. > direct it to this folder and select kb888111<yoursystem>-<yourlanguage> from folders & 'commonfiles'-has the actual driver files.
four.. hit update.. > done

(This will update the device in situation on Windows XP x86/x64 system where you cannot install SoundMAX drivers (Or realtek drivers) and no 'High Definition UAA device package will go through'.)

Quote:
Windows 2000:
Microsoft Hotfix 888111
HP Support
XP OEM->SP1:
Microsoft Hotfix 888111
HP Support
XP SP2-3:
HP Support
(Levono site was so slow didn't dare to copy it here, hehe, but tested with Realtek as with SoundMAX. x86 XP OEM to SP3 & w2k all working from HP file)

There's an small issue detected on codecs interfearing these drivers at least the best drivers.

ffdshow & ffdshow64 (Tryup) has the for somereason an DSP included on these 'codec' packs/original sources. This will eliminate the swap that you can do with soundMAX tool to separate Subwoofer from stereo/quadro speakers so don't be supriced if installed these codecs that you are missing secondary speakers completly from Vista.

Soundmax Blackhawk aka. v6.0.02.0260 and all below has an issue of 'infinite' usage amount of handles in system creating really stressful on load & processing in machines.

They have updated Temporary solutio, full driver fix in their pages and updated that to top post now. Tested myself and seems to be dropping handles like from 780 thousand on my box to total around 200.. hehe, so quite an change.

I have a p5nsli and cannot get 5.1 sound to work in vista. This board has jack sensing technology, but of course it only works with xp. Does anyone have a working driver in vista for this sound chip. When I setup the speakers in vista I select 5.1, and then click "test". The sound only comes out of the left and right speakers. I do not get sound from the center, subwoofer, or the two rear speakers.

What kinda speakers do you have? Attached them correctly? (they will not activate unless they are plugged to right way) With example 2.1 speakers as far I know it is impossible to do it. 5.1 Audio simply enabled the 'Subwoofer' channel. I actually e-mailed sonic Focus about this subject since had so many setups with 3/0+SW and 2/0+SW and """they support none other than 5.1 4/0+SW"""(Corrected below).

(E-Mail Left yesterday explaining the issue with screenshot.)

---Update---

hmm, received no E-mail, but figured that I simply added Line-out Subwoofer, Speakers R-L Speakers. Added the Speakers as AudioESP detection system asked them in. > I got to Windows Control Panel > Sound > right click Speakers > configure... > disable 'Rear', 'Center' > next > Surround > and all sounds after this action started to come through right directions.

here are the speakers

As far as attachment. There are three wires. I just attached them according to color.
Here is the manual

And some pics of the board
[HERE]

Again what drivers should I be using. It sounds like you are using xp when you talk about AudioESP. I did not know vista used the jack sensing feature. As I said before the speakers work correctly in xp. I am trying to get them to work in vista.

BTW thanks for the quick response I appreciate the help and advice.

All newer Soundmax drivers has AudioESP. Use as in second post provided Recommended drivers by me. Choises are that you accept the 500k-1Million handles overload or get the Sonic Focus Driver pack as suggested. Sonic Focus driver pack v6.10.02.6480 comes with 'BlackHawk' Panel and older & recomended older comes with 'New sonic focus'-panel.

All has AudioESP, I am using Vista x64 & XP x64 both actually. btw, no way those goes by color at least not for SurroundFX card. Got here also one set 5.1 and as far I have here colors black for rear, orange for subwoofer & green for speakers. Normal SoundMAX ADI 1988A I got here they go Subwoofer to MIC Speakers to green & rear to lineout.

Twl,

thanks a lot for your post!!!

I believe the Vista drivers from Asus (top) they are all 6.10.1.xxxx instead of 6.10.2.xxxx as it may say on their website - I've just installed the latest version labeled 6.10.2.6400 on my ASUS R2H and it says 6.10.1.6400 in Device Manager. Also if you can check but opening the ADIHdAud.inf and look for DriverBuildID.

I might also try the Lenovo drivers to see if they perform better than than the Asus ones, I hope they have the Sonic Focus audio processor too.
[Edit] I've tried both Lenovo Vista drivers (6.10.1.6200 and 6.10.1.6300) manually updated through Device Manager since the installer didn't work on my ASUS R2H. obviously nothing much for me there since the installer didn't work, no audio processor... going back to the Asus ones.

I thought the BlackHawk drivers are only for 1988 that's what it seems to say on Sonic Focus page as well as looking into the inf in the archive.

Thanks a lot for your work, again.

Dan Dar3

Well I tried the blackhawk drivers and I get this error
Also there is a newer version on the sonic focus website. 4.0 I think. Tried it as well, but received the same exact error.

So I settled for the 6.10.02.6140 from here in the forum, however like member Dan Dar3 (who posted above) my device manager reports the driver version as 6.10.1.6400.

Also you have me worried about the 500000 up to 1 million handles because of the DSP profiling. How concerned should I be?

You think if I manually install just the drivers from the blackhawk package it will eliminate the "500000 up to 1 million handles" issue without other complications? Or am I way off?
