Hey guys
Just wondering if the factory thermal paste on a asus 6600gt pci-e would be better then AS5 or as good ?
I have some AS5 and just for the fun of it, i wanna add some to the 6600GT

| The AS5 should do a better job. As you 'break in' the compound, performance will generally increase. |

I'd advise that as long as the factory TIM seems to be doing a good job, and the card temps are normal then leave it be.
Sometimes the factory installs quite thick thermal pads on the memory, which if you tear/screw them up during removal, you'll never be able to fill the gap with just paste, so just be aware. |

I've repleced the paste on cheaper low range cards that have either passive or the smaller coolers. I tend to shine a torch betweent the cooler and the card to see if its just white paste.
If it is then out pops the pushpins, clean up and on goes a small spot of better paste.
More for something to do than an actual necessity though. |
