I've got this motherboard. It has OTES cooling system. Since I'm overclocker, I had to cool down it, especially lower it's PWM temperature. On my processor I've got Thermaltake Big Typhoon VX. The processor temperatures are really low. So far I came to 've got AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+(10x200). On 2.7GHz after 12-hour torture test with Dual Prime95 max PWM temperature during that time was 66-67, but usually around 58-61. I tried , but after 10-15 minutes Prime95 crashed. Since I have BigTyphoon, I don't have much space on top of that passive cooler near processor. I'd like to try or 1.450V but my biggest fear is PWM temperature. I would like for it to stay around 60-65 degrees, but as voltage is higher, temperatures are higher... also tried putting 40 mm fan on that heatsink, didn't help much...
Any suggestions? |

Except that. I'm talking here about overclocking. Want to see where is my processor limit... Anyway, very funny suggestion... and here, where I'am you can't find anymore X2 S939 processors...

I wish my 3800+ X2 overclocked that well.. you have a very nice overclock! Out of curiosity did you write down your stepping? My 3800+ X2 can't pass prime at 2.6ghz at 1.45 but I've never tried any higher vcore. Usually run 240x10 at 1.35 for my 24/7.
Anyway, the PWM IC on my DFI is rated for 100c or something crazy high so I wouldn't worry about it too much as I'm sure yours is probably similar. Do you know exactly where it is on your board? I know some people cut ram sinks up and put them on the DFI's PWM IC.. or you could just put a small fan near it moving some air. |

| Mine PWM is left from the processor socket, under OTES heatsink. Processor stepping is BH-E4, at least so Everesty says...I'm also thinking about small fan that will move air... |

The stepping I was looking for is stamped on the CPU's head spreader.. no way to find out from within windows as you have to look at the physical CPU. It shows the date and batch number when the CPU was made. BH-E4 is the CPU's revision, same as mine btw. No big deal though I was just wondering if you wrote it down.
Some kind of small fan would work great I think. |
