A7N8X-E DEAD????????????????

Postby pyrozen » Sun Sep 07, 2008 5:35 pm

i've had my a7n8x v2 for 4 years and it has worked flawlessly. I have had it overclocked to 2400 with an XPM processor for the last 6 months. Everything was going fine until i installed SPORE and started playing. I played for about 20mins and got a hard reboot out of nowhere. Only problem is, now i get nothing.

When i turn on the computer with the power button, the HD light comes on solid and i get NO beeps. I'm completely stumped, and i have no idea why this would have happened. Memory is 2g OCZ, can't remember the model, and i have a 1300x PRo graphics card.

Don't know if ya got it sorted yet, but you might wanta try turning off the power at the back and removing your ram and placing just one stick in slot 1, and try 3 if that dont work. If you get it going, try both sticks again in 1+3, or 2+3... In fact, if that don't work, unplug everything you don't need, all external USB, all internal PCI gadgets ('cept vid card), all extra HD's, everything down to bare minimum.

Also, if you're monitoring off an LCD TV instead of an LCD comp monitor, you wont see the entire boot-up post and it might be sitting at an option page in DOS waiting for you to select your answer. Hook it up to a regular monitor.

i figured it out. Apparently my mobo just shot craps :P
i swapped RAM, PSUs, Processors, pretty much everything and then i noticed the caps under the processor socket went ka-blooie.
Eh, i had a spare A7N8X-E v1.02 in the closet so i swapped it into the case and everything has been peachy since. espically since the USB 2.0 headers in my new board actually work! That should've clued me in on the old board because they NEVER worked at all.

another positive is my A7N8X v2 could reach 200MHz but not 201MHz. The new mobo will take me all the way to 209MHz x 11.5 w/matching memory timings. I keep it clocked at 200MHz, but just thought it was interesting, especially with a AQHYA stepped XP-M, instead of the better IQHYA (or however those letter go :D )

thanks for the help anyways!

Lee,
can I get from your old board the Flash Bios Chip.
I recently was trying to build up the new Silicon Version and it went wrong.
No signs no beeps nothing just black Screen.

Your board it not of any use anymore I would appreciate to get your old Bios Chip.

Does this work, let me know..
Thanks
