Do you think if i buy an identical SSD drive it will work in raid?
Or i need to get it going first.

i read in other forums that if i dont set up settings in sil3112a (as in raid) that controller treats it as a single drive (ide)?
does it matter if i connect the SSD on SATA_1 instead of SATA_0 (primary).
what settings should i use

boot order [sata/scsi] or [scsi/sata]
first boot [cd-rom]
second boot [hdd-0] or [scsi]
boot other devices ?

Thank for all the replies.

You will be able to run each pair of SSD's in RAID0 or RAID1 mode, but I wouldn't buy a second SSD unless you switch to an up-to-date hardware system, which is able to fully support the performance capacity of the SSD's.

I really doubt that, because your mainboard doesn't have SATA Controllers, which do support a clean IDE mode.

No.

I would prefer the boot order setting [scsi/sata] and would choose the [scsi] as second boot device, but I am not sure about that. The "SCSI" settings may bring you the "safely remove hardware" option for your SSD.

hello everyone, or should i say fernando 1, i am booted up from windows 7 on a SSD! the problem wasnt the Sil3112a or SiI3112a controller, but the SSD.
to recap:
Super Talent 16gb Value SSD (FTM16GBL25V) is incompatible with 3112a controller. (trust me i tried everything from modding my bios - decompiling it and everything. not just cbrom)

fix:
Intel X25-V Sata SSD 40gb.
i am gonna try their bigger SSD drives next, i think the 160gb one.
SiI3112a bios 4.4.02 (10/29/2008) with driver 1.0.65.1B (02/01/2010)

I used cbrom to insert the 4.4.02 bios in the asus 1008-d.bin file.
and a floppy to load driver 1.0.65.1B

Done! Thanks fernando for all your help.
i will check this from time to time, if anyone has any questions.

@ m8st2ng:

It's fine to read, that you found the reason for your troubles with your Super Talent SSD (incomptibility with the Sil3112a SATA Controller).
Have fun with the Intel SSD!

Fernando
