Hi,
I am having problems with the above subject title. At first I had cheap unbranded oem 2x512 sticks that seemed very glitchy. So I purchased 2x 1gb matched corsair XMS3200 sticks. At the same time I done a complete re-format and fresh install of windows.
I have tested both sticks individually for more than 6 hours with no errors. But when I place the stick in together I receive this immediate error:
***************************************************************
Memory error detected! Pair 'random number' does not store values accurately.
Memtest has detected that your computer cannot accurately store data in RAM. You need to fix this.
***************************************************************
No matter which combination I use (as shown in manual) I get this error. As I have tested the memory, does this mean my MB is failing? Therefore I need a new motherboard? Or is there anything I can do with bios settings to allow these two sticks to run together? The system powers up ok with both sticks in but cannot pass a memtest.
I have the GA-7n400 Pro NForce2 (Rev 1.0) with 2x1gb Corsair matched XMS3200. OS is XP SP2 with IDE Western Digital and Seagate SATA drives.
Thanks in advance for any help and advice. |

Hi,
You see this is the exact same error I get with my old set of memory. I had cheaper unbranded oem sticks and I had this exact same problem! So I thought the exact same as you and sent my memory back. The shop tested them and sent them straight back to me as they passed all their tests and claimed there was nothing wrong with them. So I I was stuck with them!
At this point I decided just to upgrade to a matched pair of branded memory and you guessed it, as above, the EXACT same problem! So then I stole my fathers memory to try and vice versa, EXACT same problem yet mine work fine on my fathers system? So I aint going through the whole sending sticks back again to be told the same. I simply can't believe that 3 sets of sticks work fine in other systems yet it's still the sticks that are to blame for not working in my system?
I am going to email gigabyte and see what they think. |

AS i run a 7nnxp board it will run up tp a MAX of 2GB with 3200 speeds, 3GB at 333 speeds, asuming that you havent tried"Single channel" id attemp that. I know my board is flaky about all 4 slots populated, there are a few of the boards that abolutly hate dual channel 1 GB sticks yours maybe one. BET gigabyte says either"send the board back to us for repair" or a"you cant use that configuration"
Id try a test of setting the memory at 333 speed and see IF that makes for the same problem(just as a for if test)i know its frustrating, i played with my MB testing memroy modules in different places and settled on this curent configuration 3x 512 runs flawless witha 2500-M at 2.15 Ghz speed. |
