F.E.A.R. Review (PC)

December 1st 2005 | Gaming

From the opening cinematic right up to its closing moments, F.E.A.R. doesn’t politely ask to be noticed. Instead, it grabs hold of your shoulders, shakes violently, and then, when it’s sure that you’re paying attention, beats you over the head a few times just to be safe.

Despite the poorly implemented story and uninspired level design, I found myself being driven forward throughout. Especially as I got further into the game, the urge to press on so as to find out what was truly going on with Fettel, the unnamed protagonist, and the supporting characters became too much to bear. For lack of a better cliché, I simply couldn’t put it down. It’s a true gem of a game, and the action sequences and graphic capabilities only serve to raise the standard for shooters to come.
