EPOX - EPoX 8RDA+ Voltage Modding Guide

January 16th 2003 | Hardware

Visionary has put together an article on how to volt mod the EPoX 8RDA+ over at VR-Zone Hardware. If you’re a speedPhreak you’ll probably go ahead and do this regardless - but if you’d rather not risk voiding your warranty, read on:

“I guess many people will be tempted to perform this mod on the 8RDA+ to get FSB above 200Mhz. I got to remind you that warranties will be voided if you perform any of the mod. VDD mod is simple but dangerous if you set the wrong resistance and board failure is instant. VDDR and VBT mods are hard to perform and involve cutting of wire traces therefore it can be dangerous as well. Overclockers will be dilemmas whether to perform the mods or not.

The good news is that after having some discussions with EPoX marketing and R&D sides, they will be putting in VDD tweaking in the BIOS in the new version of 8RDA+ with more features. This would involve some re-wiring in the PCB therefore a new revision of PCB is needed. You can expect second version of 8RDA+ coming out next month so stay tuned for that.”
