Following the European release of the PlayStation Portable (PSP), the Inquirer comments on the confusion over whether or not it comes installed with firmware v2.0 installed as standard or not - v1.5 allows for ‘Homebrew’ applications:
According to reports on PSP Home, here, the firmware update may very well be coming on the attached demo disc which every user receives with their PSP. Instructions then tell them to insert the disc and the update will run automatically.
This now means that European PSP owners will have the choice of the added functionality of v2.0 from Sony, or they can stick to v1.50 of the firmware which allows for "Homebrew" applications which Sony has got rid of in later versions of the firmware.
