Diamond Multimedia lets users safely overclock via free “envoronmental” utility — Unique utility provides maximum control over GPU speed without negatively impacting video display integrity

Diamond Multimedia, a leading manufacturer of PC graphics cards, sound cards and communications products, today announced the availability of a unique Overclocking Management Tool, which allows users to speed up the performance of their Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) without encountering the negative effects on environmental heat or unwanted artifacts in the video display. The tool is available for immediate download on the Company’s Diamond Tools section.

Unlike any other video utility available, this tool allows users to“overclock” (i.e., speed up the clock speed of the GPU) without the potential damage to the graphics card or artifacts in the video display that are often associated with this procedure. Diamond accomplishes this via a real-time monitoring capability that allows the user to control the speed of the fan in order to keep the chip from overheating.

In addition, the utility monitors the overall ambient temperature of the board, which can vary in different climates or storage conditions. All of these items are key for the serious gamer, who can enable their“modded out” PC to speed through first-person shooters at increased speeds without risking inferior graphics or, worse, damage to the PC or graphics cards. Only Diamond offers such a utility, which it considers to be a breakthrough for the easy utilization of what has heretofore been the province of pro gamers and serious do-it-yourself PC builders.

“This tool is automatic and requires virtually no technical expertise on the part of the user,” said Diamond president Bruce Zaman. “This should only further enhance Diamond’s reputation as the must-have graphics board for the serious gamer.

The Overclocking Management Tool is part of the free Diamond Tools software download. The toolset uses a sophisticated 3D renderer to scan for artifacts, and its application is designed for Windows XP. Diamond Tools will work on all Diamond ATI Radeon Cards, except the Diamond S60 series.
