DFI LANParty NF4 SLI-DR Motherboard Review

February 16th 2005 | nForce4

The NF4 SLI-DR wouldn’t be one of DFI’s Lanparty boards unless it featured UV-reactive slots, ports, and connectors, too. The bundle also comes with PC Transpo, a harness for lugging your system to and from parties; a set of round, UV-reactive cables; and a UV sleeving kit for your power-supply cables. Enthusiasts have lauded several of DFI’s most recent motherboards for their flexibility and overclocking headroom. And, when compared to all of the other SLI motherboards currently available, DFI maintains its position as the dominant force for those who want to push their systems beyond stock settings.

..If you’re craving two GeForce 6800 Ultra cards for the ultimate in gaming performance, DFI’s NF4 SLI-DR offers perhaps the best way to achieve that noble goal. Even a pair of 6800 GT boards will deliver stunning frame rates. The NF4 SLI-DR isn’t perfect; its jumper blocks are less elegant than the reversible keys used by other manufacturers to set single- or dual-card operation, and we ran into a power delivery issue while using a single GeForce 6600 GT card. But a combination of top performance, unrivaled BIOS flexibility, and plenty of onboard connectivity features makes the DFI NF4 SLI-DR a favorite among Socket 939 contenders. Alternatively, if you’re in the market for a more modest configuration, consider an nForce4 board with a single graphics card instead.
