Cooler Master Stacker Case Review

November 3rd 2004 | Cases & Acc.

Today, we will take a look a Cooler Master’s Stacker from a modder’s perspective. Naturally, the hardcore watercooling enthusiast will tend to opt for large cases with little eye candy as default. Even Cooler Master’s motto for the case subtly suggests the case’s modding potential: “The way YOU want it”. Let me state this very clearly before we go on with this review. This is not going to be your normal case review. I will be taking on the role of a relatively light modder and explore the modding potential of the CM Stacker.

Good modding options combined with good case thermals make this case very suitable for enthusiasts. Being a case of such a large size, there are limitless options for those who are running water-cooling setups. Cutting the panels of this case is also made easier because of the fact that they are aluminum and not steel.

Through all these advantages of this case, a few shortcomings can be noted, such as: Not all fans are 12cm. Some are only 8cm; Not all vents filtered; Round Side Vent doesn’t really fit in.

With this being said so, this is one of the few cases which has impressed me in terms of modification options. Price wise, you can purchase this case for 235AUD at PMEComputers. Accessories such as the Crossflow fan, side window and drive cages, priced at PMEComputers 50, 55 and 25 AUD respectively, can also be bought. It is because of the Stacker’s price that we have given our Elite award rather than our Editor’s Choice award. After all, the Stacker’s modding potentials can only be fully exploited by the elite!
