Bench-House.com has
an in-depth look at the Chaintech 7NJS Zenith (nForce2 SPP/MCP-T
with CMedia) written by Peca. Benchmark comparisons are against
an ABIT AT7 MAX (KT333) - during the testing the reviewer got hold
of another nForce2 board: “believe it or not, but the
Chaintech Zenith lived up to its name, and beat in almost all fields a much better
known rival – ASUS A7N8X!“. Here’s a snip from the ‘test
setup’:
“Wishing
to present you how nForce 2 really works in its full glory and how to configure
it properly, Chaintech 7NJS was tested in 4 different modes; from the results
you’ll easily establish what situation suits the nForce 2 the most. Of course,
two Samsung DDR400 256MB memory modules were used; in order for 7NJS to reach
its maximum performance you must, so to say, “enable” the dual-channel
memory controller. To do that, you have to put the memory modules into the first
and the third memory slot. If you put them into the first and the second, the
results are much lower.
But, I don’t want to create any prejudice before you actually see the results,
so here are the previously mentioned four modes we tested in:
1. FSB 133 MHz – MEM. 133 MHz (modules in first and second mem. slot)
2. FSB 133 MHz – MEM. 133 MHz (modules in first and third mem. slot)
3. FSB 133 MHz – MEM 166 MHz
4. FSB 166 MHz – MEM 166 MHz…Chaintech? Zenith?
In a word…excellent! We would really like to congratulate the manufacturer
for a job (product) well done, as well as on the courage to embark on producing
motherboard for demanding users, in a time when the majority of manufacturers
looks for much more certain revenues from low-end models. Beside all that, in
order for the Zenith series to win the hearts of advanced users, they need to
make a few generations of top quality motherboards to make the name stick in the
minds of the people who want the fastest and the best.
The first step was made with the 7NJS model: Chaintech proved that their engineers
are very qualified, and that they can design and build a board worthy standing
up to the greatest names on the market. Not only with performance, but with impeccable
stability as well…and what can we even say for the incredibly rich bundle?”
