Second-tier Taiwan motherboard maker Biostar Microtech International expects to ship 100-150 thousand iDEQ-series small form factor (SFF) systems this year, doubling its volume on year, according to company sources. The iDEQ SFF systems are based on a variety of processors from Intel and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), said the sources.

Biostar is ready to build the SFF mini PCs using Intel’s upcoming LGA775-pin processor (Prescott) and AMD’s 939-pin Athlon 64 processor, while a model using AMD’s 939-pin processor will be available in September, said the sources.

The company is marketing its iDEQ systems as an own-brand product, instead of as a barebone mini PC. The systems will be configured before being shipped to clients, the sources said.
