BIOSTAR – BIOSTAR iDEQ nForce2 SFF

The iDEQ200N is not short on features. In addition to the normal two ATA/133 IDE connectors that you would expect in a machine of this type, the iDEQ 200N uses the recently announced VIA 6420 Serial ATA RAID controller to provide two S-ATA headers with support for RAID-0 (striping) and RAID-1 (mirroring). This makes the iDEQ 200N the first SFF machine we’ve reviewed to offer S-ATA RAID! Of course, space is limited within any SFF machine, so if you want to enjoy the benefits of RAID, you’ll need to sacrifice the use of a floppy or multimedia card reader. However, for many users this is an easy sacrifice to make. Regrettably we didn’t have two SATA drives available to test out this functionality, but this must surely give the iDEQ the potential to offer the fastest storage performance on the SFF market today.
