Biostar 8600GTS Breaks Speed Limit

August 17th 2007 | Graphics Cards

Overclockers over at OvercleX got a magical card that shattered the scores achieved by this mainstream GPU from Nvidia. Biostar’s V-RANGER feature allows users to control the voltage figures for both GPU and the RAM, something that was achieved only by non-publicly released utility for the ATI Radeon HD2000 series.

For Nvidia boards, you had to go through pencil-mods and soldering of caps with higher resistance. Since Biostar’s card has eight holes around the GPU (four classical 8600GTS reference ones, and four from 6800/7800/7900 series), you can mount water-blocks from yesteryear, and this was exactly what this lads did.
