ATI has now silently launched their Radeon X800GT, shaking things up even more as ATI attempts to fill in the gap between X700 Pro and X800. Our bot just picked up the PowerColor X800GT in retail channels a few minutes ago.

In terms of features, X800GT will have 8 pixel pipelines running at 475 MHz. That should make it roughly the same core/pixel performance as the 6600GT and slightly faster than the X700Pro. The real benefit of the X800GT is that it uses a 256-bit memory interface paired with 980MHz GDDR3, the same RAM configuration of the older X800Pro cards. That’s 256MB of RAM, incidentally, so you won’t run into memory size limitations. It’s an interesting trade off in features, but at a price of under $200 it looks attractive.
