ATI Radeon X1900 Video Card Series Previews

January 24th 2006 | Graphics Cards

As of this minute the Radeon X1900XTX is quite simply the most exciting video card on the planet, and when you keep in mind the number of features it incorporates, not to mention ATI’s exceptional image quality in both 2D and 3D, then it is well and truly worth purchasing for any computing enthusiast. Best of all you can do so this very minute, as ATi have not experienced any supply issues and all good retailers are expected to have the new cards from today onwards.

Crossfire then, if you are planning then don’t go for the XTX! ATI will not release an X1900 XTX Crossfire edition. They will release the X1900 XT Crossfire edition, so save yourself some money as you want to have the master and slave card matched. We expect the Crossfire kit to come in for a review in the next week, so we’ll bring you a full article on that release as well.

Yeah the X1900 XTX is a fine product and although it’s roughly only up to five maybe ten percent faster than a GeForce 7800 GTX 512 MB in most scenarios you need to bare one thing in mind, when more complex or simply more shaders will be used in upcoming games, this card will have the advantage for sure. And that is definitely going to happen my friends.

So we’ve had a quick look at what ATI has been working on and we see some promise. Single card performance of the X1900XTX and X1900XT is for the most part on par with the 7800GTX. Performance of the X1900XT has to be the single card best bang for the buck in our testing. It provides 99% of the performance of the X1900XTX for $100 less. I can not recommend the X1900XTX for anything other than bragging rights or for those wanting the ultimate single card solution from ATI.
