ATI Technologies and Nvidia have both stepped up efforts to increase their exposure in the consumer electronics market, albeit taking different approaches, according to top executives of the two companies. Both companies are simultaneously promoting chipsets to vendors of color handsets and digital TVs, as these two markets continue to expand at a rapid pace.
Nvidia is focusing on cultivating the markets for handsets and media centers and has not yet developed chipsets for digital TVs. The company plans to ramp up at least one new chipset solution for handsets every three months, said Huang Jen-hsun, president and CEO of Nvidia
