Asus P5N-E SLI Motherboard Review

ASUS has done a wonderful job with their P5N-E SLI [650 SLI] chipset. So wonderful, in fact that in many respects the performance of the board outdoes its bigger sibling the 680i SLI.

The features that the nForce 680i SLI boards bring to the table that this board does not have include: dual x16 cards, Dual Gigabit Ethernet, LinkBoost, 6 SATA ports instead of 4 and 2 additional USB ports. Whether that is worth an additional $100 above the cost of this board is debatable.

The 680i has more overclocking options and overclocks the PCIe bus with LinkBoost, but performance of this motherboard is equal to or better than that board in most benchmarks with the default settings. As fast as its big brother and cheaper, we have a winner here folks…
