Now that enough time has passed, we have started to see customized GeForce 7800 GTX designs from the vendors. ASUS has followed suit, utilizing a cooler unit from Arctic Cooling for arguably one of the fastest graphics cards in the world now, the ASUS Extreme N7800 GTX TOP, with clock speeds of 486/1350MHz.
The roughly 12% increase in core and memory speeds easily helped the ASUS to outperform its rivals in our comparison and even returned results that are linearly 12% faster then the reference cards in some of the tests. Possibly, only similarly overclocked cards from XFX and EVGA could challenge the ASUS Extreme at the moment, making it a much-coveted item for enthusiasts. However, the ASUS’ sky-high core overclock of 520MHz is a feat that should lift it above the other enthusiast cards.. ..this is one card that has lived up to its hype and top billing.
