ASUS Unveils a Full-Array of Motherboard Solutions Supporting AMD’s New Athlon XP 3200+ with 400MHz FSB
Taipei, Taiwan; May 13, 2002 – Striving to provide computing environments of the highest performance, ASUSTeK Computer Inc., the world’s leading motherboard manufacturer, today announced a series of high-quality motherboards supporting the latest AMD Athlon XP 3200+ processor on 400MHz front side bus (FSB).
With the new PCB (printed circuit board) 2.0 design, the popular A7N8X series motherboards, based on the AMD Athlon XP processor 3200+ and NVIDIA’s nForce2 chipset, are now 400MHz FSB ready. Just like their predecessors, the enhanced versions come equipped with the latest industry standards such as AGP 8x graphics interface, six-channel Dolby Digital audio, USB 2.0, IEEE 1394, Serial ATA, dual-LAN design and unique ASUS features. The new editions can be identified easily through the “PCB 2.0″ mark located next to the model name between the PCI slots.
The ASUS A7V600 motherboard, based on Via’s latest KT600 chipset, is the company’s all-new solution for the Athlon XP processor 3200+on 400MHz FSB. The motherboard incorporated cutting-edge specifications such as DDR 400 memory, AGP 8x graphics interface, serial ATA, IEEE 1394, Gigabit Ethernet and S/PDIF digital audio to bring out the top performance offered by the AMD Athlon XP processor 3200+.
“ASUS is pleased to work with AMD to announce solutions supporting the AMD Athlon XP processor 3200+ with the new 400MHz FSB,” said Joe Hsieh, director of ASUS Motherboard Business Department. “The current A7N8X series and the upcoming A7V600 motherboards are ready for AMD’s latest desktop processor. Combining AMD’s expertise in processing technology and ASUS’ engineering capability, these ASUS motherboards provide both performance and value.”
“AMD collaborated with ASUS to demonstrate the performance of the AMD Athlon XP processor 3200+ using the ASUS A7N8X motherboard for the processor and 400 FSB launch,” said Tim Wright, AMD’s director of desktop segment, Microprocessor Business Unit. “Together, AMD and ASUS will deliver a high-performance, highly-scalable platform that is designed to improve system and application performance for our mutual customers.”
