What was true for this card in November is still true today: for about a 25% price premium over an 8800GTS, and now also an HD 2900 XT, you will see at least a 25% gain in performance, and in many cases, something like 40% and then some.
Being true for all 8800GTXs, does this card stand out? I’d say not. It’s a little more expensive than other 8800GTXs, and is essentially stock in all respects. There are other cards with HDCP and PCB that’s just as black and pretty, available for less. Considering these cards often have factory overclocks, it’s hard to make an argument in favor of Asus’ 8800GTX outside of its bundle.
And seeing how the money saved buying a different card can buy a CD wallet and a copy of G.R.A.W., maybe with some money left over, the only reason left is brand loyalty. If you have to buy an Asus 8800GTX, well, this is the card to beat.
