The Samsung BD-P1200 solves most of the glitches found in the BD-P1000 and also adds a few new features such as the new HDMI rev1.3, which allows for deeper color depth along with better audio. As with some second generation players, the new updated HDMI version also will pass the bitstream of Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD-Master soundtracks, but unfortunately, the BD-P1200 doesn’t support the updated audio specification yet. But mind you, not all audio decoders on the market can do that as well so I wouldn’t be dismissing this product based on this lone premise.
To boil it down, the BD-P1200 is aimed to solve any problems encountered with the first revision, bring HDMI ver1.3 to the consumer livingroom and wrap this all up in a stylish package that will have consumers pick this model over the other versions being released by Toshiba, Sony, etc..
