3D Accelerated sends word that they have published a new article discussing the decision by Apple to go with Intel - an in-depth analysis into Apple’s marketing strategies and a peek into what we may expect to see out of Apple in the future:
So the move is purely based on chip performance? I think not. It seems that the switch is merely a cover up to Jobs’ plan to topple MS and take over the world! Ok, so maybe not the last part, but the key to understanding the move is not to think about technology at all. This move is more marketing based than technologically based. The real logic behind the move has nothing to do with hardware. In order for Apple to move its company to the next level, it actually needs to move out of the hardware market. For example, when Apple sells one computer, Microsoft makes money. In fact, MS has a higher return on revenue than Apple does, per every Apple computer sold. Why? Simple, OfficeXP for Macs. After production costs, Apple is simply not taking enough money home per computer sold. There is a more viable and rich market in the software area for Apple.
