Apple iPod Roadmap ‘Reveals’ Three New Models for 2007

December 8th 2006 | Multimedia

Apple is planning to launch three new iPod designs next year, it has been claimed. The new models include the long-awaited widescreen video-centric iPod and possibly a recently rumoured 16GB Flash-based video player.

According to AppleInsider, citing a source with a handle on what Apple’s up to, indicated the widescreen iPod may yet replace the current fifth-generation iPod. Much will depend on how buyers react to Apple’s upcoming set-top box, codenamed ‘iTV’, and to the iTunes Movie Store as more content from film studios becomes available. If the reaction isn’t positive, it’s suggested, the widescreen iPod may not come to market in 2007 at all.
