Apple has released a download which will enable OS X Tiger v10.4.6 users who have an Intel-based Mac to install a dual boot process on their computer. Upon booting users will be able to load OS X or Windows (once the Boot Camp installation is complete). Though this requires a download and installation now, it will be included on the Leopard, the upcoming version of OS X.
In the end Apple will only gain from this situation. A major move like this can often alienate dedicated users, but the Mac community only stands to gain from the increased versatility of their newly purchased Intel-powered computers. No mistake should be made about Apple’s intentions though, they are still strongly in favor of OS X and will be pushing it hard. If this means having to sell a few copies of Windows along the way, it does not seem that it will be a problem, but in the end it will be there OS which most at home on an Apple.
