It is not very easy to select a quality mid-range gaming video card at the moment. There are a slew of cards to choose from, and with Radeon 9800 Pro and GeForce FX 5900 Ultra prices rapidly falling, finding that balance between performance and price can be tough. In this case, the AOpen GeForce FX 5900XT proved to be a solid choice. Selling for around $175, the AOpen GeForce FX 5900XT is a good value with added higher clock speeds, oversized cooling, and decent overclocking potential, and all at a price competitive with "stock" 5900XTs. While some other manufacturers tend to sell their overclocked 5900XTs at a higher price, but AOpen has left the price untouched, offering more performance for your dollar. We do think the bundle left a little to be desired, with no gaming titles included, but a full version of PowerDVD was included, as was the additional hardware necessary to utilize all of the card’s built-in features.
If you are in the market for a good mid-range video card for less than $200, the AOpen GeForce FX 5900XT fits the bill quite well. With Dual-Monitor support, good gaming performance and ample overclocking potential, we think this card is worth definitely considering.
