When AOpen launched their original P4-based Tube Audio system it was built around the i845E chipset which lacked support for DDR333 and only used single-channel DDR, both of which hindered its performance and subsequently limited the board to a smaller market niche. The AK79G, however, does not suffer these restrictions. While the board is limited to 3 PCI slots and does carry a higher price tag then its competitors, users investing into it know they are buying a top-of-the-line nForce2 board with 400 MHz FSB support and a full array of standard nForce2 features. Unlike the original, this isn’t a TubeAmp board that asks the buyer to make sacrifices in performance for superior music quality. Rather, it offers every feature one would expect from an NF2 board and its sound system over and on top of that. It’s a tough combination to beat.
