Intel’s dual-core platform is not a true dual-core solution, according to AMD’s Henri Richard at Computex 2005 - Intel’s dual-core consists of two separate cores in individual dies packaged together using multi-chip packaging in a single chip.
DigiTimes - Although Intel was the first to launch its dual-core processor solution for desktop PCs, Richard commented that a real dual-core processor should be one that integrates two cores onto the same die.
Anand Chandrasekher, vice president and general manager of the Intel Mobile Platforms Group, said that Intel is confident it will ship more than 100,000 dual-core processors in the third quarter and expects shipments will total one million units by the end of the year.
