Altec Lansing AHS602 Gaming Headset Review

September 10th 2004 | Multimedia

If you are a serious gamer, you ALWAYS have to have a high quality set of gaming headphones to compliment your computer speaker system in times where silence is golden. These are usually when you are sneaking a late night round of Doom 3 without the parents permission, attending a Lanparty or just want to be completely immersed into the gaming experience without being interrupted by outside noises and distractions.

The headset being reviewed today brings other features to the gaming environment like a high quality microphone, a remote volume and mute capabilities along with simulated 3D audio Passive Noise reduction and surround sound.

. . .The four factors I judge headsets on is price, construction, sound quality and comfort. Out of the four, I would give this headset a solid two for comfort if it fits, solid construction, and OK sound quality. On the price front, this set fails pretty badly. There is no way in my mind that I can recommend or condone the US$99 pricetag associate with this product. Sure it Altec Lansing quality and has a lot of features but a hundred american bucks? Nope……. Best I can say is that it is a good product that can be made a lot better and a lot cheaper.

Pros
- Excellent Quality
- Rigid Construction
- Comfortable if it fits.
Cons:
- Expensive
- Lack of Availability
- Needs Larger Head Size Adjustments
- Remote is somewhat awkward.
- Hollow Sound Quality

Good Product Award
