Albatron Trinity GeForce 6800GT 256Mb Video Card Review

September 20th 2004 | Graphics Cards

Albatron has delivered a fine card once again. The Trinity 6800GT handled every benchmark we could throw at it. With the exception of trying to run games at really high resolutions and high levels of anti-aliasing and filtering enabled. Gaming on this card is a real pleasure. While there are faster cards available the Albatron Trinity 6800GT gives us a nice balance between price and performance. You could probably find an ATi x800 Pro priced about the same, but I think that the 16 pipes of the 6800GT along with Nvidia’s general acceptance in the game development community is a better choice.

For the casual gamer spending over $500 for a video card may not be the best choice. There are far less expensive options that will handle most of today’s (and tomorrow’s) games without problem. While you may need to drop the resolution down and run without AA & AF many buyers prefer budget over bling. The over clocking was a bit disappointing. I had hoped to reach at least Ultra (400/1100) speeds. Maybe with some better cooling this would be possible.

If you are a serious gamer looking for a serious card, but don’t want to spend the serious money then Albatron’s Trinity Geforce 6800GT may be the card for you. With it’s excellent performance and decent price it is sure to please. While the over clocking and bundle came up a little disappointing overall this card is well worth the money.
