ALBATRON - Albatron KX18D Pro II Motherboard Review

January 19th 2004 | Hardware

John ‘GruntmaN’ Krump reviews the Albatron KX18D Pro II (nForce2 ST) giving it the GV Editor’s Choice Award:

The Albatron KX18D Pro II is quite a bit different from the KX18D Pro. The biggest difference is the original included the MCP, the Pro II adds the MCP-T along with an abundance of other features. The Pro II includes 2x IEEE1394a ports, Voice Genie, BIOS Mirror and an optional SPDIF card… The Albatron board is Royal Blue and in my opinion it’s one of the better looking boards available. It would be nice if all of the manufacturers’ would catch on to this trend.

. . . Overall, I still had a hard time deciding whether it was the next King of the Hill, but there were just too many little nit pickings that held it back. It’s an absolutely beautiful board with outstanding potential. Even the most experienced overclockers should enjoy every bit it offers. Performance in general was right on par overall, with it’s oh so slight lacking at 166FSb and over the top performance at 200FSb. I recommend the board to anyone shopping for a gift to give their XP chip. It has everything you could want at a great price.
