ALBATRON - Albatron KM18G Pro Review

November 3rd 2003 | Hardware

On the grill today we have the Albatron KM18G Pro micro-ATX motherboard, based on the nForce2 chipset. Being a micro-ATX motherboard means that this baby is designed for small custom cases, LAN boxes, and Home Theater Personal Computers (HTPC). But, enough with the blabbing; let’s crack open the box and see what we have inside. Let’s dig in and see if this little guy can perform up to the levels of other Albatron-released motherboards.

I may have been hard on KM18G Pro, but that is primarily due to the reputation Albatron is trying to create for itself. They are moving closer and closer to the level of respectability that ABIT and ASUS today enjoy. Because of that, I was really expecting a lot from this motherboard. I guess even Albatron has been dissatisfied with this motherboard; they lack of BIOS updates for it. I think they are preparing an nForce2 Ultra motherboard to take its place.

Overall, I feel the KM18G Pro is a solid motherboard, a few oversights away from being ideal. Hopefully Albatron’s nForce2 Ultra motherboard will also be micro-ATX and address these problems.
