ABIT - ABIT Interview - Janet Webskowski

September 4th 2003 | Hardware

3DNews interviews ABIT’s Janet Webskowski, Territory marketing manager in charge of Eastern and Central Europe. There’s plenty of nForce2 snippets in here and news on the possibilty of a NVIDIA CK8 based MAX3 OTES board. Here’s a snip:

3DNews: Please comment on the situation with new VIA chipsets: KT400A and KT600. Will ABIT be producing motherboards on the KT600 chipset? Won’t there be internal competition between nForce II 400 Ultra and KT600? Also, will there be a motherboard featuring a new south bridge: MCP-S?
ABIT: Actually, we launched our KV7, KT600 based motherboard a few weeks ago. Even though VIA is trying hard to push it as the main competitor for nForce II 400 Ultra, the market will decide the position of KT600 based boards. We still expect nForce II 400 Ultra boards — especially our NF7/ NF7-S — to remain the top performer against KT600. As ABIT doesn’t have a single channel nForce II solution, we won’t have products competing against each other. As to KT400A, we do have the motherboard KD7-A featuring this chipset. We position it as an alternative to nForce II 400.
