ABIT - ABIT AN7 Review

Here’s another look at the ABIT AN7, James “Agg” Rolfe reviews over at Overclockers Australia:

The more alert among you may be thinking “Gosh Agg, this AN7 sounds a lot like the ABIT NF7-S v2.0 I have right here.” You’d pretty much be right there, because based on spec-sheets alone (AN7 here, NF7-S v2.0 here), the two motherboards are very similar. However, if we look at the two boards side by side, we can see quite a few differences which add up to the AN7 being more than just an NF7-S v3.0 and deserving of a different name.

At the end of the day, this quite an attractive motherboard. Impressive performance and an excellent suite of features, both hardware and software, should put it on the short-list for most purchasers. However, the NF7-S v2.0 to my mind remains on the short-list also. The AN7 seems to be a platform for launching the µGuru system rather than a big evolutionary step for ABIT’s socketA lineup. If you find the µGuru features to be a big drawcard then you’ll be happy with the AN7. I think most people would realistically be happy with either of these two motherboards from ABIT.
