ABIT - Abit AN7 NForce 2 Motherboard Review

January 13th 2004 | Hardware

AMD3D takes a look at what appears to be ABIT’s replacement - or complement - for it’s popular NF7-S motherboard, the ABIT AN7 (NVIDIA nForce2 Ultra 400 + MCP-T):

Today I am reviewing Abit’s latest edition to the Socket A market… The AN7, featuring the greatly renowned nForce™2 Ultra 400 chipset. The AN7 seems to be a replacement for the excellent Abit NF7. However unlike the NF7 the AN7 only comes in one version, as opposed to the NF7 and NF7-S. The new AN7 seems to have all the same features as the NF7-S and then some. Abit have added their new on the fly overclocking utility, Abit uGURU.

. . . Looking at the benchmarks you can see that this motherboard performs very well. I would have liked a Abit NF7 and or Asus A7N8X to compare with, but these were not available. But the results speak for them selves. The features on the board are excellent, onboard SATA, raid, sound, LAN and USB2. And not forgetting Abit’s new uGuru chip. This is a reasonably priced motherboard with excellent performance and overclocking options. Including the option to up the V-dimm voltage to 3.2 volts. This give the option for some EXTREME DDR overclocking…Without the need for any kind of Volt mods!
